If you’re in midlife and feeling unlike yourself, this is common and deserves a thoughtful evaluation.
Many women I work with experience:
• Brain fog or trouble concentrating
• Poor sleep or waking at night
• Unexplained weight gain
• Low libido
• Mood changes or irritability
• Fatigue that doesn’t make sense
• Hot flashes or night sweats
• Joint aches or body stiffness
The first step is a Midlife Reset consult — where we take a comprehensive look at your symptoms and create a clear, personalized plan.

Who Can Benefit from Hormone Therapy
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is especially beneficial for women who are experiencing symptoms caused by hormonal imbalances. These imbalances can arise at various stages of life or due to specific health conditions.
When is Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) Recommended?
HRT can be a highly effective option if you’re experiencing hormone-related changes that impact your daily life. It is most commonly helpful during the following phases:
Perimenopause
The transition leading up to menopause, marked by fluctuating hormones that can cause irregular cycles, sleep changes, mood swings, and new symptoms that were not present before.
Menopause
Defined as 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period. Hormone production from the ovaries drops significantly, often leading to hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, mood changes, and sleep disturbances.
Postmenopause
The years following menopause, where symptoms may continue or evolve due to persistently low hormone levels. Many women still benefit from HRT for symptom relief, bone protection, and quality-of-life support during this stage.
Symptoms Hormone Therapy Can Help Alleviate
Sudden feelings of warmth, often followed by sweating and chills, which can disrupt sleep and daily comfort.
Emotional ups and downs, irritability, and feelings of sadness that are often linked to hormonal shifts.
A decrease in sexual desire or satisfaction caused by fluctuating estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone levels.
Difficulty falling or staying asleep due to hormone-related changes, which can affect your energy levels and mood.
Unexplained weight gain or difficulty losing weight due to hormonal imbalances that slow metabolism.
Persistent tiredness or a lack of energy, even after a full night’s sleep, can result from diminished hormone production.
Difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness, and reduced mental clarity often linked to estrogen or thyroid imbalances.
A common symptom after menopause that can cause discomfort during daily activities or intimacy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below you’ll find the most frequently asked questions about the Hormone Replacement Therapy we offer at Ignite Health.
Any woman struggling with moderate to severe symptoms of hormonal decline, especially those in perimenopause or menopause may be a candidate. We’ll evaluate your full health picture before making any recommendations.
Many women feel symptom relief within 4–6 weeks. For others, it may take a few months to achieve full benefit. We monitor closely to make sure you’re progressing.
Is hormone therapy safe? Yes, hormone therapy is considered safe and beneficial when prescribed appropriately. The key is proper screening, monitoring, and using the lowest effective dose for symptom relief and prevention.
Hormone therapy is most effective and safest when started within 10 years of your final menstrual period. However, many women can still benefit even if they’re further along, depending on their health and symptoms.
Options include estrogen alone (for those without a uterus), or estrogen combined with progesterone. Forms include pills, patches, creams, gels, vaginal inserts, and more. We choose the best route based on your symptoms and medical history.
If you still have your uterus, yes, progesterone is needed to protect the uterine lining from overgrowth. If you’ve had a hysterectomy, you may not need it. We’ll determine the right combination based on your anatomy and risk profile.
Hormone therapy is not a standalone weight-loss treatment. However, optimizing hormones can significantly improve factors that influence weight, including sleep quality, energy, mood, insulin sensitivity, and metabolic function.
As part of the Midlife Reset, we take a comprehensive, medically guided approach. When clinically appropriate, care may include hormone optimization along with nutrition guidance, lifestyle strategies, and prescription weight-loss medications or metabolic support to help support sustainable results.
The focus is on restoring balance and improving how your body functions, rather than pursuing rapid or short-term weight loss.
In some cases, hormone therapy may not be appropriate. However, there are non-hormonal treatments available for managing menopause symptoms. We take a thorough look at your medical history and consult with your oncology team if needed.
FDA-approved hormones are tested for safety, consistency, and effectiveness. Compounded hormones are mixed by a pharmacy and may be needed in special cases, but they’re not regulated or tested to the same standards. We only use compounded options when no FDA approved version is suitable for your needs.
Low Estrogen: Hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, mood swings, insomnia, and decreased skin elasticity. Low Progesterone: Anxiety, irritability, sleep disturbances, and irregular or heavy periods (in perimenopausal women). Low Testosterone: Low libido, fatigue, decreased muscle strength, poor motivation, and brain fog.
No. Pellet therapy is not currently recommended by leading medical organizations, including The Menopause Society. It is not considered evidence-based, and may carry risks related to dosing inconsistencies and safety. At Ignite Health, we focus on safer, FDA approved hormone therapy options that can be adjusted over time and closely monitored.
Yes — testosterone therapy can be an appropriate option for some women, particularly those experiencing low libido or other symptoms related to low androgen levels.
I take an evidence-based approach and only recommend testosterone when it’s clinically appropriate, using dosing that is safe and tailored specifically for women — not one-size-fits-all or excessively high levels.
When used, I typically favor methods that provide more stable, physiologic levels and allow for careful dose adjustment over time.
If this is something you’re curious about, we can review your symptoms, labs, and overall health to determine whether it makes sense for you.
